Fair on the River Thames
Description: Early engraving of a fair on the frozen River Thames. Engraved by George Cooke after Luke Clennell, the picture comes from ‘Cooke’s Thames Scenery’ published in 1822. Super view with shipbuilding in the background.

Condition: The picture, which has later hand colouring, is in good condition. Sold with an ivory mount ready for framing.

The Greenwich Pensioner
Description: The Greenwich Pensioner ‘Old Salts’ steel engraving dating from around 1840. Engraved by T Holles after F.M.Ward, a charming image of an old sailor with a wooden leg showing pictures of his past exploits.

Description: Early lithograph, plate 12, Greenwich Pensioner. The picture was published by J Murray in Albermarle Street London in 1813. Pensioners were housed at the Royal Hospital in Greenwich founded by King William and Queen Mary.

Description: Superb steel engraving of ‘ The Great Exhibition of the Industry of all Nations, opened by Her Majesty Queen Victoria May 1st 1851’. Fine view of the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London.
