Leicestershire by Joannes Blaeu circa 1645  

Description: Large early copperplate map of Leicestershire by Joannes Blaeu with original hand colouring. The map dates from around 1645.

Age: Circa 1645  Size of image (mm): 500 x 380

Condition: The map, which has original hand colouring has been laid to card and has some light discolouration. Sold as a loose map due to its size.

Sussex by John Cary 1805.  

Description: Large map of Sussex by John Cary published by John Stockdale in London in 1805. The map shows and references the Hundreds.  

Age: 1805  Size of image (mm): 500 x 350

Condition: The map, which has later hand colouring, has a few very minor creases but generally in good condition. Folds as issued. Sold as a loose map due to its size.

Cruchley’s Environs of Brighton, including Lewes, Shoreham, Newhaven etc circa 1860.  

Description: Fine map ‘Cruchley’s Environs of Brighton, including Lewes, Shoreham, Newhaven etc’, engraved for H Wallis, for a sketch of the Natural History of Brighton. The map has additions to 1858 so I would assume this was produced around this time.

London to Dover in Kent by John Ogilby 1675 

Description: Super original copperplate map by John Ogilby (1600-1676).

The road runs from Southwark in London, through Deptford, Crayford, Dartford, Northfleet, Chalk Street, Rochester, Sittingbourne, Bacton Street, Canterbury and on to Dover in Kent.

John Ogilby was an interesting character, born in Scotland, he was a dancer, theatre owner in Ireland, book dealer and finally a map maker. This map comes from his renowned work ‘Britannia’ published in 1675.

Condition: The map, which has later hand colouring, is in good condition. Central fold as issued.

London to Poole, Hampshire – Dorset by John Ogilby 1675 

Description: Super original copperplate map by John Ogilby (1600-1676).

The road runs from Southampton, through Winchester, Rumsey, Lindhurst, Ringwood and on to Poole.

John Ogilby was an interesting character, born in Scotland, he was a dancer, theatre owner in Ireland, book dealer and finally a map maker. This map comes from his renowned work ‘Britannia’ published in 1675.

A Map of the Hundred of Wrotham by Edward Hasted circa 1798 

Description: Original copperplate engraving ‘A Map of the Hundred of Wrotham and the Hundred of Littlefield’ by Edward Hasted. The map comes from his renowned work ‘History and Topographical Survey of the County of Kent’.   

Age: Circa 1798 Size of image (mm): 430 x 370

Condition: The map, which has later hand colouring, has a small loss at the bottom, black border line missing, but small losses on these maps is fairly common. There is no loss of text or engraving,  folds as issued. Sold with an ivory mount on inland deliveries only, overseas the map will be rolled securely.

Sittingbourne to Barham Down Kent by Emanuel Bowen  circa 1720 

Description: Original copperplate engraved strip map showing the road from Sittingbourne to Barham Down via Canterbury in Kent. The map was engraved by Emanuel Bowen with the notes by John Owen, published by Thomas Bowles.
