London Plan 1707

Description: Scarce copper plate engraved plan of London by Pieter van de Aa. The engraving comes from James Beverell’s ‘Les Delices de la Grand Brettagne’ published in 1707. 

Age: 1707  Size of image (mm): 150 x 120

Condition: The picture, which has later hand colouring, is in good condition. Central fold as issued. Sold with an ivory mount ready for framing.

A Mapp of the Parish of St Martin’s in the Fields

Description: Original 1755 map based on an earlier version by John Stow. I believe this version was by John Strype who corrected, improved and enlarged the John Stow map. The table of references show one hundred and seven streets, courts etc. Super map showing, Covent Garden, The Strand, Scotland Yard, St Paul’s Cathedral, Long Acre, Whitehall etc.

Description: Original copper plate plan showing the attack on the English Fleet at Chatham in 1667 by the Dutch Fleet. A rare image with showing the River Thames from the estuary right in to London. Published in Germany,

London 1796

Description: London plan titled ‘London after the Fire Anno Domini 1666’. Super plan showing the area from Tower Street through to Holborn Bridge. Engraved by Neele, the picture was published by J Stockdale in 1796.

Condition: The plan, which has later hand colouring, is a little ragged around the borders with some creasing top left. It is also close trimmed but price does reflect condition. Sold with an ivory mount which covers most of the creasing.

Plan of Lambeth Palace 1750

Description: Early original copper plate engraving ‘Plan of Lambeth Palace 1750’ , engraved by Cook after Reeves. The plan is titled ‘From the original in the possession of Mr Singleton of Lambeth’. Quite a rare engraving.

Condition: The plan, which has later hand colouring, is close trimmed but has just enough border to allow for a mount. Sold with an ivory mount ready for framing.

Middlesex by Henry Teesdale

Description: Early map of Middlesex by the London publisher Henry Teesdale dating from around 1830. Teesdale flourished between 1828 and 1843 with this particular map coming from his ‘New English Atlas’. 

Age: Circa 1830  Size of image (mm): 410 x 340

Condition: The map, which has original hand colouring, is on watermarked paper marked ‘J Whatman 1830’. The map is a bit grubby and stained around the borders but almost all will matt out. Sold without a mount due to it size. Super map.

Description: Fine steel engraved map of Middlesex by Thomas. The map comes from ‘A Complete and Universal English Dictionary’ by the Rev James Barclay, revised by Henry W Dewhurst and published circa 1848. Vignettes of Westminster Bridge and Buckingham Palace.

Reuben Ramble map of Middlesex circa 1845.

Description: Rare lithographic map of Middlesex from Reuben Ramble’s ‘Travels through the Counties of England’ published in conjunction with the publisher William Darton.

Reuben Ramble was the name used by the Reverend Samuel Clark when writing his books for children on geography.

Description: Fine copper plate engraved map of Middlesex and part of London by John Stockdale. Published in Piccadilly in London, the map with the scale of miles features the River Thames.

Condition: The map, which has later hand colouring, has vertical and horizontal folds with reinforcing along one of the vertical folds. The map is sold without a mount due to its.
