Very unusual early copper plate astronomy engraving of Aurore Boreale, Aurora Borealis the Northern Lights, dating from around 1760. The text is in French and appears to refer to an event in 1721. A rare engraving.

Early copper plate engraving 'Vasquez De Gama introduced to the Zamorin (or King) at Calicut India'. Vasquez De Gama, was a Portuguese navigator and the first person to sail round the Cape of Good Hope. The picture was published by Alex Hogg in London around 1786.

Rare early lithograph published by Beverly Tucker in 1856 for 'Narrative of the Expedition of an American Squadron to the China Seas and Japan'. by Commodore William Perry. The picture shows the 'First landing at Gorahama'. The landing took place on the 14th July 1853 when Commodore Perry met with officials from the Japanese Government. The two ships in the background are the US Frigates Mississippi and Susquehanna. Illustrated by Wilhelm Heine the lithographers were P S Duval & Co.
 
The picture, which has original hand tinting, is in good condition. Size of engraved area 230mm x 150mm.
