Stunning steel engraving published between 1860-83 of Ramsgate in Kent. The picture was engraved by T A Prior from an original drawing by G H Andrews. Super view of the harbour entrance showing the lighthouse with the town in the background, sailing ships and people milling around on the harbour wall.
 
The picture, which has later hand colouring, has some light foxing, mainly noticeable to the borders and a couple of other marks etc as you would expect from a picture of this size and age. Price does reflect condition. Size of engraved area 410mm x 210mm.

Quite a rare copper plate engraving of the parade, West Cowes on the Isle of Wight by George Brannon. Published in London February 1821 by Brannon the picture was sold by booksellers on the Island.     
 
The picture has some very minor staining/discolouration mainly to the borders but generally in good condition. Size of engraved area  200mm x 120mm.

Quite a rare copper plate engraving of the parade, West Cowes on the Isle of Wight by George Brannon. Published in London February 1821 by Brannon the picture was sold by booksellers on the Island.

Early London map 1819
 
Super folding map 'A Panorama of the Curiosities of London 1819'. Copper plate map produced in 1819 or thereabouts showing the top 49 sites around London including St Paul's Cathedral, the Mansion House, British Museum etc. The map has a note stating that the squares correspond with those on the Map of London. The River Thames obviously very prominent.  
 
The map, which is hand coloured, is a bit discoloured and close trimmed at the bottom. There is also a crease top right hand corner. A rare map with folds as issued. Size of engraved area 220mm x 110mm, excluding the text.

Quite a scare sepia aquatint 'On the Thames near Battersea' published in London in 1809 at R Ackermann's Repository of Arts 101 Strand. Boatman in the foreground with sailing barges moored along the River Thames. The picture was almost certainly engraved by T Sutherland who engraved the plates for Jenkin's Naval Achievements. Other views including Dulwich, Sydenham Chelsea, Westminster, Lincoln, Tilbury Fort, Barmouth and Conway Castle from this publication can be found in our 'Etching & Aquatint' section.

Early map of Kent by Richard Blome C1680.
 
Very early copper plate map of Kent by Richard Blome dating from around 1680. The map has a table of Lathes and Hundreds in Kent and a scale of miles. Blome originally commenced work on the county atlas this came from in 1667 but it would appear that by 1671 he had abandoned his attempt to complete the work and the plates were passed to another publisher. However in 1681 the map plates
re-emerge in Blome's possession and were published as Speed's Maps Epitomiz'd.  
 
The map has some issues; it has been dry mounted on to card at sometime and has a few small areas where some of the original map is missing, the largest just right of the coat of arms, also on the right hand side.
