Cowes Isle of Wight C1830  
 
Rare steel engraving of Cowes on the Isle of Wight. The picture was engraved by H Winkles from an original drawing by R Winkles and dates from around 1830. Published by I T Hinton.   
 

The picture, which has later hand colouring is in good condition. Size of engraved area 160mm x 100mm.

Grand Fleet at Otaheite C1820
 
Scarce early folding engraving of the 'Grand Fleet at Otaheite' from Cook's Voyages. Super view of the ceremonial canoes. The picture dates from around 1820. 
 
The picture is not in great condition, quiet poor around the edges and has some creasing but price does reflect condition and scarcity. Double click image for a closer more detailed view. Folds as issued. Size of engraved area 215mm x 120mm.

Small copper plate map of Middlesex dating from 1787. The map was originally published in John Sellers 1694 'Anglis Contracta', this copy is from Francis Grose's 'The Antiquities of England and Wales' published in 1787.
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, has text on the reverse and is in good condition. Size of engraved area 140mm x 120mm.

Early copper plate map of the 'Smaller Islands in the British Ocean' by Robert Morden C1695
 
Super early copper plate map of 'The Smaller Islands in the British Ocean'. First edition map published in by Robert Morden. Robert Morden (1650-1703) was a bookseller and publisher but is better known for his maps issued in 1695 in Gibson's revised edition of Camden's Britannia. the map features Lindisfarne, Isle of Man, Holy Island, the Scilly Islands, Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and the Isle of Wight.  
 
The map, which has later colouring, has some creasing and is a bit grubby around the borders but the paper is very thin and condition is good for the age of the map. Size of engraved area 420mm x 360mm.

Super early copper plate map of 'The Smaller Islands in the British Ocean'. First edition map published in by Robert Morden. Robert Morden (1650-1703) was a bookseller and publisher but is better known for his maps issued in 1695 in Gibson's revised edition of Camden's Britannia. the map features Lindisfarne, Isle of Man, Holy Island, the Scilly Islands, Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and the Isle of Wight.

Rare early copper plate engraving 'The Gallant Action off the Isle of Man where Brave Capt Elliot Defeated and took the Marshall Belleisle, Commanded by the famous Thurot & two other French Ships of War the 28 of February 1760'. Published September 1786 for Harrison's Edition of Rapin. Engraved by Goldar from an original painting by F Swain.   
 
The picture, which has later hand colouring, has some grubby marks top & bottom left but generally in good  condition.  Size of engraved area 300mm x 180mm.

The map, which has later hand colouring, is quite a light impression but in good condition. Size of engraved area 280mm x 200mm.
