Captain Cook in O-Taheitee C1785 
 
Early copper plate engraving 'A Chief and other Natives of O'Taheitee visiting Capt' Cook in his second Voyage to the Southern Hemisphere'. Engraved for Millar's New Complete & Universal System of Geography the picture dates from around 1785. 
 
The picture, which has later hand colouring, has restoration to the top left hand corner, by 'Engraved' and has some light foxing. Otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 280mm x 150mm.

The Death of Captain Cook C1785 
 
Early copper plate engraving 'The Death of Capt'n Cook at O-why-hee near Kamschatka, whose discoveries in his Last Voyage, as well as those of his First and Second, will be included in this New & Improved System of Geography'. Engraved by Thornton from an original drawing by Hamilton the picture was engraved for Millar's New Complete & Universal System of Geography and dates from around 1785. 
 
The picture, which has later hand colouring, has restoration to the top right hand corner with the top left corner close trimmed. Otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 300mm x 170mm.

Early copper plate map of Cornwall by Robert Morden 1722
 
Super early copper plate map of Cornwall published between 1695 and 1722 by Robert Morden. Robert Morden (1650-1703) was a bookseller and publisher but is better known for his maps issued in 1695 in Gibson's revised edition of Camden's Britannia.   
 
The map, which has later colouring, has some light creasing and some fading in parts but generally in good condition. Central fold as issued. Double click the image for a closer view. Size of engraved area 430mm x 360mm.

Fine quality steel engraving of London and Westminster Abbey. Published in France around 1840 the engraving is from an original drawing by J Schroeder. Unusual view of the Abbey from the River Thames.

Tahiti South Pacific, Captain Cook C1785
 
Early folding copper plate map engraved for Anderson's edition of Captain Cook's Voyages and published by Hogg in 1785. 
 
In this engraving there are four separate maps, charts of Tahiti, two of Ulietea and Huaheine. The charts illustrates small islands, sandbanks, watering places, depth soundings and anchorages. There are scales of distance and compasses.

 

The map, which has later hand colouring, has some creasing, the most visible being the top right hand corner, but generally it is in good condition. Size of engraved area 340mm x 210mm.

Very early copper plate map of 'Nouvelle Zemble' Russia, Arctic regions by Allain Mallet dating from around 1719.
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, is a little grubby around the borders with light foxing to the bottom of the image, otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 150mm x 100mm.
