Rotherhithe 1931, pen & ink drawing
 
Pen and ink drawing of Rotherhithe titled 'Swinging her tail' by E S Pickett dated 1931. Super view of working tugs and barges on the River Thames with ships unloading in the docks. The picture has 'Swinging her' written above the title and it looks like the artist has tried to remove this. However it is an interesting image of the London docks in operation between the wars.  
 
The picture has a few minor marks but generally in good condition. Size of image 280mm x 180mm.

The picture, which is printed in colour, is in very good condition. Size of engraved area 145mm x 90mm.

Rare map of Tunbridge Wells, Waterdown Forest, C1790
 
Very rare map of Tunbridge Wells titled 'Plan of the Encampment on Waterdown Forest near Tunbridge Wells, under the command of Lieu't Gen'l Fraser 1780'. The map is also dedicated 'To the Honourable Simon Fraser Esq. Lieutenant General of His Majesty's Forces and Colonel of the 71st Regiment of Foot'. The map was presented by Jasper Sprange and dates from around 1790. The Pantiles can just be seen at the bottom of the engraving with Frant showing top right.  
 
The map, which has later colouring, has some issues; there is a small repaired tear along the top border to the right hand side and it is quite creased. Double click the image for a closer more detailed view. However it is a rare map and will be of interest to the military collector/researcher. Size of engraved area 300mm x 260mm.

Kent map dated 1835, linen backed. 
 
Linen backed map of Kent published and engraved by J & C Walker in London in 1835. An interesting map detailing the square miles of the county as 1,537 and the total inhabitants as 479,155.
 
The map is hand coloured and in reasonable condition for its age. The cover though is not so good with a poor repair to the spine and some cloth missing. For a detailed look at the map itself double click the image. Size of engraved area 390mm x 330mm, folded 120mm x 90mm.

"Off Brixham" signed etching by Henry George Walker 

Superb original drypoint etching by Henry George Walker, ''Off Brixham'' with yachts and an early tug. Born in Birchfield Birmingham in 1876 he became an active etcher in 1921 when he exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society. His most successful etchings were his studies of the harbours of Tenby and Brixham. He died in 1932.  
 
The picture, which is stuck at the top to a thin card, is in good condition. Signed in pencil by the artist with studio with a signed artist proof stamp bottom right. Size of engraved area 290mm x 180mm.

Superb original drypoint etching by Henry George Walker, ''Off Brixham'' with yachts and an early tug. Born in Birchfield Birmingham in 1876 he became an active etcher in 1921 when he exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society. St Helena C1820 
 
Super aquatint of St Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean. Engraver unknown but probably someone like Thomas Sutherland who engraved the plates for ''Jenkin''s Naval Achievements''. The picture dates from around 1820 and is quite a rare image. St Helena was used by the British as a place of exile, the most notable person exiled there was Napoleon.  
 
The picture, which has original hand colouring, has a small stain to the left hand margin and some slight wrinkling but price does reflect condition. Size of engaved area 205mm x 120mm.

The picture, which is hand coloured, is a little grubby around the borders but generally in good condition. Size of engraved area 160mm x 110mm.

Fine etching by Edward William Cooke (1811-1880) of  a ''Fishing Boat'' from his ''Shipping and Craft'' published in 1829. The picture is probably the south coast, Brighton or Hastings being the most likely options.
 
The picture is in good condition. Size of image 120mm x 115mm.

Rowing Boats, Greenwich by Paul Bisson
 
Superb original limited edition 9/250 etching by Paul Bisson of ''Rowing Boats, Greenwich'', could be either the Curlew Rowing Club or the Globe Rowing Club  which are based in Greenwich. The picture probably dates from around 2000 and has a very atmospheric feel about it with the boats ready to be launched on the River Thames. Paul Bisson was born in Guernsey, in the Channel Islands in 1938 and studied at the St Martin''s School of Art and between 1959 -1961 at the Royal Academy School.
 
The picture has a few very minor grubby marks around the border all which will mount out, otherwise in excellent condition. Size of image 140mm x 120mm.

Original watercolour of Thames barges by the artist Mark Tarleston. I'm afraid I don't know much about the artist but obviously very talented.

Early map of Jamaica C1676 
 
Very early rare copper plate map of Jamaica dating from around 1676 probably engraved by Charles Lamb. The map has text on the reverse, titled 'The description of the New Netherlands, now called New York'.  I believe it changed to New York around 1670.
 
The map is hand coloured, could be contemporary with the picture but it is hard to tell. Slightly grubby around the border and a little discoloured with some text showing through. Size of engraved area 120mm x 80mm.

Georgia, South Atlantic, Captain Cook C1785
 
Rare early folding copper plate map ' Chart of the discoveries made in the Atlantic Ocean in the vessel Resolution by Captain Cook 1775'. French map engraved by Benard around 1785 showing the Isle of Georgia in the South Atlantic.
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, has some creasing and is close trimmed to the right hand border. There is also a slight tear in the right hand border, very common on folding maps. Size of engraved area 330mm x 320mm.
