Lord Howe's Victory 

Superb early aquatint of Lord Howe's victory, June 1794 from Jenkin's Naval Achievements of Great Britain published in 1816. This work was first published in 1814 and it is still regarded as one of the finest monuments to Nelson's navy ever produced. The picture is engraved by T Sutherland from a painting by T Whitcombe. A very rare print.
 

The picture has original hand colouring, slightly fading and is quite grubby around the edges but otherwise in reasonably good condition. Double click image for a more detailed view. Size of engraved area; 265mm x 175mm.

The Dutch Fleet in England c1690 
 
Rare early copper plate engraving of the Dutch Fleet in England dating from around 1690. The title is in French which roughly translates to 'His Royal Highness from Hellevoetsuis to England' and dates 1688. I believe this is Prince of Orange related but it needs a bit more investigation, if we find out anymore we will obviously update the description. 
 
The picture has been professionally embedded on paper, not stuck and has some creasing. Size of engraved area 190mm x 150mm.

Rare early copper plate engraving of the Dutch Fleet in England dating from around 1690. Very early copper plate map 'Nieuwe Kaart vant' Koninkryk Poolen, verdeelt in zyn byzondere Waywoodschappen; na de Nieuwste stelling int'ligt gebragt'. Super map of Poland published by Isaak Tirion in Amsterdam in 1733. 
 
The map, which is on laid paper and with original hand colouring, has some very old manuscript writing in the borders, most will matt out, otherwise in good condition. Central fold as issued. Folds as issued. Double click the image for a more detailed view.Size of engraved area 350mm x 290mm.

Fishing Boat Signed etching
 
Original etching of a fishing boat in a harbour, location unknown. The etching is signed in pencil by the artist but sadly I cannot read the signature.   
 
The picture which is hand coloured has been laid (stuck) onto a backing board by the framing company, it has their label on the back. There is also some foxing to the border but almost all will mount out and the picture should look stunning framed. Double click the image for a more detailed view. Wonderful steel engraving titled ' The Morning after the wreck of a Dutch East India-Man' Engraved by J Cousen from an original painting by C Stanfield R.A. the picture is dated 1847. The picture is dedicated to His Majesty the King of the Netherlands and was published in the Haymarket London by J Hogarth. Very atmospheric engraving which will look stunning framed.  
 
The picture has a few marks and the titles are starting to fade a little but otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 375mm x 250mm.

Large Oxfordshire by Thomas Kitchin 1750
 
Early copper plate map of Oxfordshire by Thomas Kitchin dated 1750. The map has a cartouche bottom left stating 'A new improved map of Oxfordshire from the best surveys and intelligences, divided into its Hundreds; Showing several roads and true measured distances between town and town. Also Rectories and Vicarages, the parks and Seats of Nobility & Gentry, with other useful particulars. Regulated by Astronomical Observations'. The map is dedicated to the Most Noble Charles Spenser and was sold by J Hinton at the Kings Arms in St Paul's Church Yard London.
 
The map has contemporary hand colouring and a few issues. There are a number of creases to the map a a whole and there are nibbles/nicks to the borders. There is also a repaired tear top right and some strengthening tape in one section of the centre fold. However it is still a superb map and the price more than reflects the condition.
