Ramsgate from the Sea, scarce, C1850
 
Very rare early lithograph 'Ramsgate from the Sea' dating from around 1850. Super view of the harbour with a paddle steamer in the foreground and the town up on the hill. Published by D P Fuller, Marine Harbour Ramsgate, Kent the picture was lithographed by Newman & Co of 48 Watling Street, London. An extremely rare picture which appears to be hand tinted.
 
The picture is a little grubby around the borders, all of which will mount out, otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 230mm x 150mm excluding titles.

Early copper plate engraving 'Vue De Surate du Cote de la Riviere' in India. This view of Surate (Surat) on the North West coast of India shows the town and harbour with ships in the foreground. The picture comes from Prevost's 'Histoire Generale des Voyages' and dates from around 1750.
 
The picture has folds as issued and is in good condition. Size of engraved area 260mm x 180mm.

Early steel engraving of 'Rigging Hulk and Frigate, Portsmouth probably from 'The Ports, Harbours, Watering Places and Picturesque Scenery of Great Britain published by W E Finden in London in 1842. We will be having a new section shortly offering original works from featured marine artists.
 
The picture, which has later hand colouring, is, like most engravings of this age, slightly grubby around the border with some discolouration but otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 170mm x 130mm.

Early copper plate engraving of ' The Celebrated Battle off La Cape Hogue, in which Admiral Rook burnt the French Admiral's Ship called the Rising Sun, with Twelve other large Men of War, May 20 1692.' Super naval battle scene engraved by Grainger and dating from around 1780.
 
The picture, which has later hand colouring, is in good condition. Size of engraved area 310mm x 190mm, including ornate border.

Roseau, Dominica, West Indies C1780
 
Early copper plate engraving of the 'Perspective view of Roseau in the Island of Dominica in the West Indies'. Published in Middleton's Complete System of Geography around 1779. Roseau is the capital city of Dominica in the South Caribbean and is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea.
 
The picture, which has later hand colouring, is a little grubby around the edges and has a very faint diagonal crease across it, otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 260mm x 160mm.

Rare early aquatint engraving of 'A View of part of the Old Dock in Liverpool'. Superb picture of the old docks, which were built after a 1710 Act of Parliament, by William Green (1761-1823), etcher and aquatint engraver from an original painting by W H Watts. The picture was published by W H Watts in 1799.
 
The picture is in very good condition. Size of engraved area 190mm x 130mm excluding titles.

Superb picture of the old docks, which were built after a 1710 Act of Parliament, by William Green (1761-1823), etcher and aquatint engraver from an original painting by W H Watts. The picture was published by W H Watts in 1799.

Rare copper plate engraving 'Representation of taking and seizing the French Stores and Garrison of Ostend by a Detachment from Admiral Macbride, March 30th 1793'. Engraved by J Pass from an original drawing by Paon.
 
The picture, which has later hand colouring, has folds as issued and is a bit grubby but it is quite a rare engraving and the price does reflect condition. Size of engraved area 170 mm x 120mm.

Great Roads of South Britain 1742
 
Early copper plate engraving of ' A Map of the Great Roads from London to all parts of South Britain' by Badeslade and Toms dated 1742. Thomas Badeslade was a surveyor on the canals and these maps are engraved by William Henry Toms from his surveys. The text on the left details some of the distances and completed miles.
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, has a central fold as issued and is a little grubby around the border with a stain top centre which will mount out. The bottom fold is also starting to come apart but an easy fix, otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 150mm x 140mm.

Super pencil drawing of an old riverside warehouse and barge. The picture came with others all from the Rotherhithe area so I am assuming this is from that part of South London as well. Some chalk highlights, the pictire has A.E.P 10.11.14 written on the inside of the barge which I take as the artist's initials and the date. 
 
The picture is drawn on card and in very good condition. Size of drawn area 330mm x 220mm, including titles.

The map, which has later hand colouring, has a small worm hole bottom left just below engraved border, otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 270mm x 220mm.

Scarce copper plate engraving 'Heptarchie des Saxons' from the French edition of Allain Mallet's 'Description I'Univers' published in Paris in 1705. The map shows England divided by Saxon regions.
 
The picture which has later hand colouring, is a bit grubby around the border as you would expect and has a tiny worm hole in Kent, noticable when held up to the light. Otherwise in very good condition. Size of engraved area 150mm x 100mm.
