Stunning etching, rooftop view of London and St Paul’s Cathedral (large)

Wonderful original etching showing a rooftop view of the area around St Paul’s Cathedral, London. The picture, dating from around 1920, is signed in pencil by the artist, sadly I cannot quite read the signature. Will look stunning mounted and framed.

Super early copper plate engraving of the Custom House, London from William Maitland's History of London. There is no engraver shown but I think it is credited to B Cole, published in 1756. Great view from the River Thames with ships in the foreground.

Early aquatint of the Westminster Penitentiary in London by Ackermann and dating from around 1810. Super view across the River Thames to the prison with sailing barges in the foreground.

Custom House, London 1815

Early copper plate engraving 'South View of the ruins of the Custom House, London, built by Mr Thomas Ripley, after the former structure, built in 1668, was destroyed by fire in the year 1718. This Fabric was also demolished by fire 14th February 1814'. Engraved by W Wise from an original drawing by Fellows, the picture was published in 1815 by Robert Wilkinson.

The picture, which has later hand colouring, has some slight printing marks but otherwise it is in good condition. Double click the image for a closer view. Size of engraved area 210mm x 140mm.

Scotch Smacks on the Thames by E.W. Cooke

Early etching by Edward William Cooke (1811-1880) of ''Scotch Smacks'' on the River Thames. Superb picture very atmospheric. The picture comes from Cooke''s renowned ''Shipping and Craft'' published in 1829 when he was aged just eighteen.

The picture is quite close trimmed, just outside the plate mark and has some very light discolouration but otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 200mm x 130mm.

Early copper plate engraving of 'View of Greenwich in Kent' and 'View of Deptford, in Kent' engraved by Taylor. The upper picture has a fine view of the Royal Hospital in Greenwich, both views are from the River Thames. Published around 1780.  

The picture, which has later hand colouring, is a little grubby around the borders but this matts out. The lower image has a couple of very small marks but otherwise it is in good condition. Double click the image for a more detailed view. Size of engraved area 330mm x 220mm.

Shooting near Stepney Fields, London, C1780-1820

Rare copper plate engraving ' Peter Conway & Michael Richardson shooting Mr Venables and Mr Rogers, near Stepney Fields', London. This engraving, dating from between 1780 and 1820, comes from the 'New Newgate Calendar or Malefactor's Register'.  

The picture, which has later hand colouring, is quite grubby, however it is quite a rare engraving and in reasonable condition for its age. Double click image for a more detailed view. Sheet size 205mm x 110mm.

Early lithograph, plate 12 Greenwich Pensioner. The picture was published by J Murray in Albermarle Street London in 1813. Pensioners were housed at the Royal Hospital in Greenwich which was founded by King William and Queen Mary. 

The picture, which has original hand colouring, has a light crease down the right hand side. Size of engraved area 130mm x 120mm.
