Description: The Greenwich Pensioner ‘Old Salts’ steel engraving dating from around 1840. Engraved by T Holles after F.M.Ward, a charming image of an old sailor with a wooden leg showing pictures of his past exploits.

Age: Circa 1840 Size of image (mm): 255 x 200

Condition: The image, which has later hand colouring, is laid on card and in good condition. Sold with an ivory mount ready for framing

The Greenwich Pensioner 1813

DescriptionEarly lithograph, plate 12, Greenwich Pensioner. The picture was published by J Murray in Albermarle Street London in 1813. Pensioners were housed at the Royal Hospital in Greenwich  founded by King William and Queen Mary. 

Age: 1813 Size of image (mm): 130 x 120

Condition: The picture, which has original hand colouring, has a light crease down the right hand side. Sold with an ivory mount ready for framing

Description: Chromolithograph of a Chelsea Pensioner?  Published around 1860.  

Age: Circa 1860 Size of image (mm): 150 x 100

Condition: The picture is in oval form and appears to have been cut down. Laid on card and sold with an ivory mount ready for framing

Description: Superb steel engraving of ‘ The Great Exhibition of the Industry of all Nations, opened by Her Majesty Queen Victoria May 1st 1851’. Fine view of the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London. 

Age: Circa 1855  Size of image (mm): 250 x 100 excluding titles.

Condition: The picture, which is hand coloured, has a mark below ornate scroll bottom right but otherwise is in good condition. Sold with an ivory mount ready for framing.
