Great Fire of London

Description: Early copper plate engraving ‘Part of London as it appeared during the Dreadful Fire, in the Reign of Charles the 11.d 1666’. Engraved by Taylor after Wade the picture comes from Barnard’s New Complete & Authentic History of England.

Age: Circa 1790  Size of image (mm): 170 x 110 excluding ornate borders.

Condition: The picture, which has later hand colouring, is a little discoloured around the borders but generally in good condition. Sold with an ivory mount ready for framing.

Guy Fawkes

Description: Early copper plate engraving ‘The Seizing of Guy Fawkes who was going to blow up the Parliament House in the Reign if James the first, 1606’. 

Age: Circa 1780  Size of image (mm): 180 x 120 excluding ornate borders.

Condition: The picture, which has later hand colouring, is a little discoloured around the borders but generally in good condition. Sold with an ivory mount ready for framing.

Preaching at St Paul’s Cross, London

Description: Copper plate engravings ‘Bishops and Citizens of London swearing Fealty to William the Conqueror’ and ‘The Rev’d Dr Shaw Preaching at St Paul’s Cross’. Engraved, I believe, by Thomas  Bowles.

Age: Circa 1750   Size of image (mm): 300 x 200

Condition: The engraving, which has later hand colouring, is in good condition. Sold with an ivory mount ready for framing.
