Description: Early copper plate engraving ‘Entrance to London at Shoreditch Church’. Engraved by Hay, the picture comes from Dr Hughson’s ‘Description of London’. Interesting to see the Shoreditch Charity School on the left of the picture.

Tower Hill, London

Description: Steel engraving of Tower Hill with the Tower of London in the background. Engraved by Charles Heath after P Derwint.

The picture is by the collected Scottish marine artist George Shaw. Born in Glasgow in 1929 his pictures, particularly of the Thames, are very sought after. A wonderful image of a bustling working river.
