Proposals for Blackfriars Bridge, London

Description: Early copper plate engraving of the proposal for Blackfriars Bridge, London dated 1756. Engraved by Benjamin Cole the picture shows the designs for building a bridge in stone to cross the River Thames from Blackfriars to Southwark. An interesting piece of London history.

Condition: The picture, which has later hand colouring, has two vertical folds as issued and is in good condition. Sold as a loose engraving due to the size of the plate.

Plans for London Bridge in 1746

Description: Very early engraving showing the plans of London Bridge. The plans were drawn by Charles Labelye in 1746. This engraving, by Benjamin Cole, dates from around 1750. An interesting print.

Description: Early engraving showing London, Blackfriars and Westminster Bridges. The top two images represent the early London Bridge with houses on it and the present bridge, as of circa 1770. An interesting architectural engraving.

South View of Westminster Bridge

Description: Fine early copper plate engraving of ‘A South View of Westminster Bridge’. Engraved by Thomas Jefferys the picture dates from around 1745. Great view of the River Thames with what looks like the Royal Barge in the foreground.

Condition: The picture, which has later hand colouring, is close trimmed to the left hand side, still suitable for mounting though. Central fold as issued. Sold complete with an ivory mount ready for framing.

Description: Interesting early copper plate engraving of a proposed bridge across the River Thames at Blackfriars. The picture was drawn and engraved for the London Magazine.

Description: Later copy of quite a rare image originally published by H Teape & Son at Tower Hill. An interesting piece of London history.
